In Alentejo, wine calls for a laid table, long conversation and a mug at hand. This one, shaped on the wheel by Xico Tarefa and painted by his wife Zeza, has flowers in bright, warm colours, as if a little of the Alentejo sun fit in them too.

Story of the piece

Clay Mugs, Set of 4

To toast the Alentejo tradition

Some objects belong to the culture of a land because they are part of its everyday gestures. The clay mug is one of them: made for serving wine, it accompanies meals, snacks and conversations that go on without keeping track of time.

At Olaria XT, in Redondo, Xico Tarefa has worked clay since the age of 13, shaping pieces that keep the region's pottery tradition alive. Zeza adds her own expression to them, with hand-painted flowers in intense colours that give the mug an identity of its own.

Between the wheel and the brush, this piece brings together two skills and brings a tradition to the table. Because in Alentejo, even a toast can hold the memory of a land.

Four mugs, four flowers. And a toast to Alentejo.
