Tinwork with Alentejo flowers

Bicado Tin Jug

The shape of an old jug, with the flowers of Alentejo furniture.

Story of the piece

Bicado Tin Jug

A tinware bicado with Alentejo flowers

The bicado is part of the Alentejo utilitarian tradition. Shaped like a jug, with a spout and a handle, it was used to store, carry and serve liquids such as water and wine. A piece tied to daily life in the region's homes, which today also tells us stories about the ways of living of other times.

Made of metal, this bicado takes on a new expression through Zézinha's painting. On the white background, flowers and branches recall the characteristic motifs of Alentejo painted furniture, in a combination of tinwork and decorative painting.

Zézinha has devoted herself to this art for four decades, having learned it from her master. In Redondo, she keeps preserving that know-how and bringing it to objects that find a place in today's homes.

A piece that brings together two expressions of Alentejo craft: the shape of tinwork and the flowers of traditional painting.

A shape from other times. With flowers painted for today.

PINTAR O DIA‑A‑DIA DO ALENTEJO

A continuidade do ofício preocupa Zézinha.
