Small‑batch craft production. The time counts from your order. She woke up at the rooster's crow. She opened the front door slowly and headed for the henhouse. Breakfast was already there! She put the eggs in the basket and went back to the kitchen. Some went straight into the frying pan and the rest she stored in the little egg cabinet, with a smile. It looked almost like a toy.

Egg Cabinet
Small, dark green and full of flowers. Straight out of a doll's house.
Egg Cabinet
Storing eggs as if we were playing
Small and irresistible, this cabinet looks as if it came out of a doll's house. It was painted by artisan Zézinha, one of the few in Redondo who still paint Alentejo furniture, sharing through her pieces the customs and homes of this region.
It has a shelf and racks to hold the eggs. Its dark green background is one of the traditional colours of Alentejo furniture, along with blue, garnet, red, yellow and white, and Zézinha brought it to life with flowers and branches, as she always does.
With her finger she draws the centre of the flowers and then completes the composition with brushes, using softer tones to create contrast. That is how she learned from her master four decades ago, and that is how she keeps this art alive.
An egg cabinet that introduces us to daily life in Alentejo. And brings back the urge to play.

The morning eggs. Stored as if it were a game.

PINTAR O DIA‑A‑DIA DO ALENTEJO
A continuidade do ofício preocupa Zézinha.
