Poppy Box

Wood holds what time cannot erase.

Since antiquity, the poppy has been associated with sleep and rest. But it was in the lands scarred by war that this flower found its deepest symbolism: a silent tribute to those who fell in the First World War.

It opens in the morning and wilts as the sun sets. And it is always reborn — resilient, red. Even in lands marked by history's pain.

Jacky Cavallari trained at the École Boulle and is today one of the few living masters of marquetry - the art that gives wood its colour, texture and life. With a precision that time does not rush.

For this smoked eucalyptus box, the artisan chose eight woods, such as green-dyed sycamore, orange-dyed maple and red-dyed tulipwood, and with them composed the poppy. Layer upon layer, using the same traditional marquetry technique employed in the 18th century.
