Salina Greens
Where salt is not just salt.At Salinas Green, the landscape is not a backdrop. It is a living system. Here, plants grow where the land meets the salt, and food is born from its regeneration.
Salina Greens is devoted to growing and selling halophyte plants. Do you know what they are? We learned.
They are plants that live where few others could survive: in saline soils, between land and water, in wetlands and along coastal margins. They adapted to salt and turned it into a form of life. They store minerals in their tissues, withstand the extreme environment and make it their natural habitat.
It is in this rare balance, between salt, water and biodiversity, that Salina Greens works.
It has developed a plant-based salt made from six halophyte species native to the Alcochete salt pans. In autumn and winter, sarcocornia, suaeda and sea beet; in spring and summer, samphire, sarcocornia, crystal suaeda and sea spinach.
The composition changes with the seasons, like nature itself. The species are chosen for their abundance and productivity in the habitat, ensuring a balance between use and regeneration.
At Salina Greens the products taste of salt, yet they are entirely plant-based. They are food, but they are also ecosystem.
