Hoopoe Panel

Wood reveals what time cannot erase.

The hoopoe sings as if telling ancient secrets, invisible to the eye. And when it stops, motionless on a branch, there is a sense that freedom has its own colour, shape and rhythm.

Jacky Cavallari trained at the École Boulle and is today one of the few living masters of marquetry - the art that gives wood its colour, texture and life. With a precision that time does not rush.

For this chestnut panel, the artisan chose twenty-five woods, such as maple, plane, ebony, and black-dyed tulipwood, and with them composed the hoopoe. Layer upon layer, using the same traditional marquetry technique employed in the 18th century.
