Wood holds what time cannot erase.
The hummingbird spreads its wings and prepares for flight. It seeks beauty in small things, and brings us the comfort that comes to mind when we slowly open our box - an engagement ring, a well-folded, faded note that, with a quiet smile, brings a shine to our eyes.
The art of keeping what is precious to us is an old one, as old as marquetry itself. Jacky Cavallari trained at the École Boulle and is today one of the few living masters of this art, which gives wood its colour, texture and life. With a precision that time does not rush.
For this chestnut box, the artisan chose thirty-one woods, such as pond oak, light guava wood, and green-dyed tulipwood, and with them composed the hummingbird. Layer upon layer, with the precision of someone who has learned the value of time and the importance of memories. The kind the Hummingbird Box holds, as though they were secrets.
