Regionalarte

Jorge Lima and his wife Esmeralda wake up every day to views of the sunny hills of São Marcos da Serra, where they care for 100 hectares of wild medronho trees with a stunning landscape overlooking the Odelouca river. Sooner or later, all that fruit will be transformed into the region’s traditional drink. They like to age it in old oak barrels to give it a woody warmth - a tribute to Jorge’s mother, Dona Inácia. Jorge carries the torch of the fourth generation of a family of distillers.

But since 1999, medronho has been only part of the story. That was when Jorge decided to transform the local tradition of distilling medronho into an aromatic portfolio of premium liqueurs - from fig to almond, from lemon to saffron. What they all have in common: they are a fragrant bridge between the past and the present.

The fifth generation is already stepping in. The eldest daughter, Rute Lima, manages the brand at fairs and handles communication. What the Lima family serves is more than just bottles: it is a legacy made with care, rooted in memory, and shared with soul in every sip.
